Soap and water are recommended to remove residual material and other sediment, and then the mold must be carefully dried. Before storage, rust stains left by condensed water and intrusive materials must be removed; Depending on the degree of chemical attack, rust can be removed with an abrasive or polish.
At the end of each maintenance job, pipe fitting molds should be carefully dried and lightly coated with creosote, especially for movable parts such as push rod assemblies, sliders and lifters. If stored for a long time, wrap it in oil paper. It is especially important to grease and wrap the mould with oil paper when the storage conditions are not met. All observations and maintenance of the mold should be recorded on the mold card.
